Logic Loops: draw a single closed loop

Goal

Draw a single closed loop on the grid, with no crossings or branches, so that every number has exactly that many sides inside the loop.

How to play

  1. Draw a single closed loop, with no crossings or branches.
  2. Each number tells how many sides of its square belong to the loop.
  3. Tap a side to draw it, tap again to mark it with an X, and once more to clear it.
  4. A number turns green when its square already has the sides it asks for, and red if there's an error.
  5. "Undo" takes back a step and "Start over" (asks for confirmation) clears your lines and marks.
  6. The puzzle ends when your lines match the solution: the one correct loop.

Key rules

  • A 0 means none of that square's sides are in the loop: you can mark them with an X.
  • Squares with no number have no restriction of their own.
  • Every puzzle has exactly one solution and can be solved by reasoning, with no guessing.
  • There are no lives or maximum tries: you can't lose.
  • It's the same puzzle in every language.

Scoring and rewards

  • Daily puzzle: 14 loopies (each hint takes 2 off, minimum 6) + speed bonus (up to +4; reference: 6 seconds per square on the board).
  • Infinite mode: 10 loopies (each hint takes 2 off, minimum 4) + speed bonus (up to +2). Stars by hints: 0 → 3, 1-2 → 2, 3 or more → 1.
  • Every loopie also gives 1 XP.
  • Hint: marks an X on a wrongly drawn line or draws a missing line (2 loopies; "Free hint" by watching an ad takes nothing off).

Modes and difficulty

a daily puzzle that grows through the week (Monday 5×5 easy, Tuesday 5×5 medium, Wednesday 6×6 easy, Thursday and Friday 6×6 medium, Saturday 7×7 easy, Sunday 7×7 medium), infinite mode (from 4×4 to 7×7 by level: 1-3 4×4 easy; 4-6 5×5 easy; 7-10 5×5 medium; 11-15 6×6 easy; 16-25 6×6 medium; 26-35 7×7 easy; from 36 7×7 medium) and archive. Same in every language.

Tips

  1. Start with the 0s (mark all four of their sides with an X) and the 3s, which give the most information.
  2. Mark ruled-out sides with an X: it helps you see where the loop can't go.
  3. Look at how corners and edges close; a dot can't have three lines or just one.

Frequently asked questions

Is there only one solution?

Yes, every puzzle has a single solution you can deduce.

What does it mean when a number turns green or red?

Green: its square already has the sides it asks for. Red: there's an error (too many lines, or it can no longer reach the required number).

Can I make mistakes with no consequences?

Yes: there are no lives. Only hints cost loopies (and stars in infinite mode).

How long it takes

A game usually takes 3 to 5 minutes. This is a rough estimate.
