Goal
Place stars on the board so there is one in every row, one in every column and one in every colour region, with no two touching.
How to play
- Place one star in every row, every column and every coloured region.
- Two stars can never touch, not even diagonally.
- Tap a square to mark it with a dot, again for a star, and once more to clear it.
- Drag your finger to mark several squares with dots at once.
- If a star breaks a rule (it shares a row, column or region with another, or touches one), it's marked in red.
- "Undo" takes back a step and "Start over" (asks for confirmation) clears the board.
Key rules
- Regions are told apart by colour and by a thick border.
- The dot is just your own mark to remember ruled-out squares: it doesn't count as a star.
- Every puzzle has exactly one solution.
- There are no lives or maximum tries: you can't lose.
- It's the same puzzle in every language.
Scoring and rewards
- Daily puzzle: 14 loopies (each hint takes 2 off, minimum 6) + speed bonus (up to +4; reference: 15 seconds per row of the board).
- Infinite mode: 10 loopies (each hint takes 2 off, minimum 4) + speed bonus (up to +2). Stars by hints: 0 → 3, 1-2 → 2, 3 or more → 1.
- Every loopie also gives 1 XP.
- Hint: removes a wrongly placed star (leaving a dot) or, if there are none, places a missing one (2 loopies; "Free hint" by watching an ad takes nothing off).
Modes and difficulty
a daily puzzle that grows through the week (Monday and Tuesday 6×6, Wednesday to Friday 7×7, Saturday and Sunday 8×8), infinite mode (from 5×5 to 9×9: levels 1-3 5×5; 4-8 6×6; 9-15 7×7; 16-25 8×8; from 26 9×9) and archive. Same in every language.
Tips
- Start with the smallest regions: they have few possible squares for their star.
- Every star rules out, with dots, the squares in its row, its column and the ones around it (diagonals included).
- If a row, column or region has only one free square left, that's where the star goes.
Frequently asked questions
Can two stars touch diagonally?
No: not horizontally, vertically or diagonally.
What does the hint do?
It fixes a wrongly placed star or places a correct one. It costs 2 loopies, except the free hint (optional ad).
Is there only one solution?
Yes, every board has a single solution.
How long it takes
A game usually takes 2 to 4 minutes. This is a rough estimate.
